Scotland (スコットランド) is a supporting character in the series Hetalia.
Appearance[]
A Chibi version of Scotland
Scotland has short, dark brown hair with a cowlick and is the only UK brother with dark hair. He appears to be the tallest among them. His eyebrows are thick and his eyes are green, like all of his brothers.
Personality[]
Scotland is stubborn, honest and straightforward. Although he seems tough when he talks to England, he's actually a really nice person.
Although he is a pragmatic and realistic person, he does believe in supernatural creatures, such as his friend and national animal, the unicorn.
Scotland wishes to live alone and join the EU some day. He likes football and Edinburgh Castle.
Relationships[]
England[]
Scotland is England's big brother. He has an ongoing football rivalry with him. Currently, he has a friendly relationship with England, however he still interested in moving out of the shared United Kingdom house to join the EU.
Wales[]
Wales is Scotland's brother. They have a dispute about which country King Arthur originates from. Other than that, their relationship is fairly friendly.
Northern Ireland[]
Northern Ireland is Scotland's brother.
France[]
While they have not interacted in canon yet, many fans believe Scotland and France are very close friends with each other. The alliance between the two countries, the Auld Alliance, technically is the oldest alliance in Europe, since it began in 1295 and is considered to have ended in 1560 with the Treaty of Edinburgh (although the Auld Alliance was never formally revoked). Scotland and France also have a mutual dislike and rivalry towards England.
Germany[]
Scotland refers to Germany as his 'aniki' (big brother) and tries to get his attention in the hope of joining the EU. 
Trivia[]
Early drafts of the UK brothers
- Years before his official debut, Himaruya had released early drafts of Scotland, as well as his brothers Wales and Northern Ireland. However, he never indicated which brother was which in the drawings.
- In his football rivalry with Britain, it is revealed that Britain has 48 wins, Scotland has 41, and they have come to a draw 26 times by 2021.

- ↑ His exact physical age is unknown, but historically speaking, it is likely he looks older than England. In a bonus comic posted on Himaruya's Twitter (Japanese; English), it is shown that he, Wales, and Northern Ireland decided that England would refer to them all as "big brother" in exchange for him representing the whole UK at meetings, regardless of whatever their actual physical ages are.
