This pairing involves the characters of Japan and North Italy

Italy. Usually in fan media, Japan does not accept Italy's feelings.

The term, 枢軸お花組 (Suujiku Ohanagumi), Axis Flower Pair, is used in the Japanese fandom.

Japan's "first time"

In the webcomic Japan-kun VS Italy, Japan is greeted by Italy with a hug and a kiss on his cheek. He is appalled, yelling that that was his "first time", and he would have to now take responsibility and marry him. This was adapted into episode 12, though Italy did not give him a kiss on the cheek.

In episode 12, Italy greets Japan with a "Good morning!" and a hug. Japan is taken by surprise, and immediately pushes him off, stating that he should take responsibility for "taking his first hug".

Japan and Italy are shown to be quite close, in one episode where they made

lunches together and are seen together quite often in the webcomic, as well as Italy comforting Japan during a training session when Japan expressed that he 'did not understand'. In the Halloween strips, Japan is shown to gently place a blanket over Italy's shoulders and later they are seen next to each other (Japan sitting and Italy lying on his stomach) with Japan having an arm resting on Italy's head, notably, in the same strip, Italy hugs Japan from behind, looping his arms around Japan's neck with no negative response from Japan who's just a little surprised Italy appeared there so suddenly.
