This volume focuses on the characters France and Spain, who are having trouble falling asleep and decide to count sheep for each other and the listener.

France and Spain are strategizing late into the night. Spain feels sleepy due to not sleeping recently. He wonders where Prussia could've gone, but France dismisses his worries and offers him to get some sleep. France jokes about counting sheep for Spain, but the latter takes it literally. France is a bit surprised at first but then agrees to do so.
Very Well! I, France, Shall Count![]
France and Spain have some small talk before the former begins counting sheep. After promising Spain some wine after they win, France counts to 10 sheep. Spain feels a bit drowsy and goes on to talk about Italy Veneziano and Italy Romano for a bit, wishing they'd count for him. France gets him back down to earth and counts to 20. Spain feels annoyed because he could've solved his sleep problem long ago. France argues that his lack of sleep must've caught up to him. They bicker for a bit, and France then counts to 30 sheep. Spain rises from his bed and says that he imagined tomatoes instead of sheep because he's worried about the tomatoes back at home. After some reasoning, France calms Spain down and counts to 40 sheep. Spain is sleep-talking, so France decides to finish things up and counts ten more sheep. He then feels drowsy himself and goes to sleep.

France and Spain are asleep, Prussia makes a loud entrance. The two bolt awake, while Prussia is talking about some kind of trap for Austria. He's gloating about catching him, while the other two are barely impressed, telling him to quiet down. Prussia doesn't seem to know what time it is. France finally makes Prussia leave, making him realize that it's quite late. Spain offers to count for France this time around due to the two of them being wide awake.
I’m Countin’ This Time Around![]
Spain quickly counts to 10 sheep; France tells him to slow down. Spain then wonders whether Prussia is asleep. France gets riled up about England. Spain stops him and counts to 20 sheep. France begins yawning, praising Spain's counting. The latter then counts to 30, noting how he could use this for making Romano fall asleep. France slightly hints towards wanting to get Romano from Spain, but he immediately cuts France off, hitting him. Spain then counts to 41 sheep and yawns. France asks him to count until he falls asleep, and Spain agrees, counting to 50 sheep, after which France falls asleep. Spain begins to drift off, but Prussia flings the door open, announcing that he forgot to tell something, but France immediately cuts him off, screaming at him for waking them up. Prussia seems absolutely clueless, but France continues berating him, while Spain just wonders when he will get some sleep.
