Gakuen Hetalia is an alternate universe in which the Hetalia cast attend World Academy W (W•学園, W Gakuen), a fictional multicultural private high school located in New York.[citation needed]

Clubs[]
Canada Club[]
The Canada Club (カナダ, Kanada-bu) seems to only consist of Canada, but he does invite the Newspaper trio to join in. The club is about quietly appreciating the great things from Canada (like covering pancakes in maple syrup, singing songs while roasting marshmallows, drinking coffee and looking at the mountains) while wearing Canada merch. According to Japan, these activities are "sort of the true meaning of life".
Choir Club[]
The Choir Club (合唱部, Gasshō-bu) consists of Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Ukraine. It is said that many reputable students are part of this club, namely the Baltic states, who are famous for their chorus. Among these students, Estonia gained the nickname "Singing Revolution", a reference to the real-world Singing Revolution that lead to the restoration of Estonia's independence.
Lithuania mentioned that he's been too busy to practice lately. Although it is unsure what exactly he's been busy with, Himaruya replied to a fan asking the same question with a doodle[2] of Lithuania being dragged around by a chatty Poland.
According to Estonia, the biggest characteristic of their club is that they are always being targeted by the Soviet Club, but Russia contested that by pointing out that the Soviet Club collapsed.
Elephant Lovers Club[]
The Elephant Lovers Club (象さん愛好部, Zō-san aikō-bu) consists of India and Thailand. Not much is known about this club.
Gourmet Club[]
The Gourmet Club (美食部, Bishoku-bu) consists of China, France and Turkey. Their club is based on their love for fine food, and the members are carefully cherry-picked. When Italy complained that he wanted to join the club but was denied entry, France replied that the Gourmet Club is only for "mature people who love true gourmet food", and adds that England is forbidden from joining their club.
Going Home Club[]
The Going Home Club (帰宅部, Kitaku-bu) seems to only consists of Switzerland despite him alluding to the fact that not many people attend the club regularly. The club is about home and self-defense, which confuses Germany as to whether this is a real club or not.
A second version of the club named Going Home Club 2 (帰宅部2) was later created, but Switzerland seems to not be part of it anymore. Instead, the Newspaper trio meet Italy Romano, who is too lazy to go home.
Hero Club[]
The Hero Club (ヒーロー部, Hīrō-bu) seems to only consist of America, who is eager for the world to know about his heroic endeavors. There is the usual rivalry between him and Russia.
Italy Veneziano's Clubs[]
At the end of Gakuen Hetalia: Go Forth! Newspaper Club!! Second Half, Italy reveals that he's the only member of a few "mysterious clubs" that all have the same designated classroom, including the Model Research Club, the Slightly Badass Club, the Cat Snuggle Club, as well as 24 other unnamed clubs. Additionally, Italy already mentioned in Gakuen Hetalia: Go Forth! Newspaper Club!! First Half that he was part of the Siesta Club, although it is unknown whether or not he is the only member of it.
Music Club[]
The Music Club (音楽部, Ongaku-bu) consists of Austria and Prussia. Prussia seems to be an electric guitar player, and Austria has been shown playing multiple instruments throughout the series (namely the piano and the violin). However, they appear to not get along very well, as Asutria enjoys classical music whilst Prussia acts rather disruptive.
Newspaper Club[]
The Newspaper Club (新聞部, Shinbun-bu) consists of Italy Veneziano, Germany and Japan. They write articles and relay information through the school newspaper, and one of their projects was to interview all the clubs within World Academy W, no matter how weird. This is the premise of Gakuen Hetalia: Go Forth! Newspaper Club!! First Half and Gakuen Hetalia: Go Forth! Newspaper Club!! Second Half.
Nordic Club[]
The Nordic Club (北欧, Hokuō-bu) consists of Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Norway and Iceland. Denmark, being the self-proclaimed leader, claims that the club's purpose is to maintain order within the academy by crafting cool pieces of furniture.[Note 1] To impress Japan, he adds that when they're in a pinch, furniture from all around the world comes together to form a giant robot. However, Sweden quickly steps in to debunk Denmark's lies.
Finland reveals that the Nordic Club's true activities are very mundane, such as eating snacks and discussing furniture as well as what they want to do in the future.
Soviet Club[]
The Soviet Club (ソ連部, Soren-bu)[Note 2] was a former club that no longer exists. Aside from Russia, it is unknown who used to be part of it, but one can guess that the three Baltics might have been.
Swimming Club[]
The Swimming Club (水泳部, Suiei-bu) consists of Australia and Hungary. Hungary mentions that they've already done a few shows in the past. Australia invites Japan to join him for a 10 kilometer swimming session, which Japan declines as he is worried about his back giving out.
Witchcraft Club[]
The Witchcraft Club (魔術部, Majutsu-bu) consists of England and Romania. England acts very secretive about the club, stating that they're not open to just anyone. He challenges the Newspaper trio to bend a spoon in order to be granted an interview, which prompts Germany to snap said spoon in half.
Romania, on the other hand, appears rather happy to tell about the activities of the club. They include but are not limited to: happy marriage witchcraft, love charms, and a prayer for a bountiful harvest for which one needs to dress up as "that wizard with the glasses and a scar on his forehead" (an obvious reference to Harry Potter). The latter point is revealed much to England's dismay, as it was the most mysterious aspect of the Witchcraft Club.
In the English dub, the club is called Hellfire Club and is portrayed as more of a tabletop RPG group than anything involving actual witchcraft.
Uniforms[]
Japan, Italy Veneziano, England, China, and Spain in uniforms.
Europe Class Male Uniforms[]
The summer version of the Europe class male uniform has dark blue plaid pants, brown loafers, a sweater vest with white and black trim, a white button-up t-shirt, and a black tie. The winter uniform has the same plaid pants, brown shoes, and black tie, but its white button-up shirt and sweater seem to have long sleeves. The winter variant can be worn with or without a dark blue blazer on top of the sweater. In both the summer and winter uniforms, the sweaters can be either white, dark blue, or tan/brown. The blazer and the sweaters have the W Academy crest on the left lapel. While in the Gakuen story in Hetalia: Axis Powers Volume 2, the crests are missing, the crests are present in some panels of the Gakuen story in Hetalia: Axis Powers Volume 4
Despite these uniforms later being referred to by Himaruya as the Europe class uniforms, they largely seem to be used as a default uniform, and non-European characters such as China, Japan, and America have been depicted wearing them. China has been shown to wear a white tangzhuang with gold trim under his sweater for both the summer and winter variants.
Europe Class Female Uniforms[]
Unlike the male uniforms, the primary color used is red. All versions of the World Academy W female uniform have a red plaid skirt and a white shirt.
The first version of the winter uniform is worn by Seychelles, as well as Ukraine in a later concept sketch. The uniform is simply the red skirt with a dress shirt, tie, and sweater worn over it. There is also a variant of this uniform with a much longer skirt, which Belarus is shown to wear. Like the male uniforms, the sweaters come in a variety of colors.
The summer uniform is a skirt jumper with a white shirt and black tie, with brown shoes instead of white. Though no one is shown to wear it in the game, a sketch by Himaruya shows that Hungary wears this type of uniform (though another design shows her in the first style). Further concept art shows that the jumper has a corset-style back in addition to its suspenders. A petticoat also appears to be worn underneath it.
The third type, another variant of the winter uniform, has no black tie and the skirt is shorter. The shirt is covered by a long-sleeved sweater, which is covered again by the red version of the blazer.
An additional sketch by Himaruya showed an alternate unused color scheme for the girls' uniform, with the jumper being colored a solid black instead of a red plaid print.
Africa Class Uniforms[]
In concept art, the students of the Africa Class are shown to wear school uniforms with a deep khaki color scheme. The style of the uniform is shown in four different variants:
- A brown hoodie with white-and-brown cuffs and trim, and khaki skirt (worn by the ponytailed model)
- A white crop-top and khaki skirt (worn by a short-haired model)
- A white uniform shirt with a red neckerchief worn over it, along with a khaki vest and skirt (worn by a model with a straw hat)
- A white uniform shirt with a black tie, with a khaki vest and skirt worn over it (worn by a model with glasses)
In one of the concept sketches, it is shown that they presumably wear sandals as footwear. So far, only the girls' uniforms have been depicted in these sheets, though a male African nation is shown in the demo in a blue uniform (as he is carted away by medics from laughing too hard at Seychelles' blackboard sketch of her coat of arms).
Asia Class Uniforms[]
In two sketches done for the game, South Korea and Taiwan are shown wearing uniforms that are significantly different from the other ones shown in-game. Himaruya's notes indicate that the two are students in the Asia Class and wear special uniforms for it.
The male uniform consists of a long-sleeved black jacket with red cuffs, and a pair of black pants with black shoes. The female uniform is a black sailor-style school uniform dress, worn with black tights and black Mary Jane shoes underneath it. While the male uniforms have red accents, the female uniforms appear to have golden ones.
In a Gakuen-based Extra Story featuring China and South Korea, China is also shown to be wearing the male Asia Class uniform, though he had worn the standard boys' uniform in previous appearances.

Notes[]
- ↑ Scandinavian design is known worldwide especially for its furniture, and was partially popularized through IKEA.
- ↑ The name of the club is a blend word using the first characters of the Japanese words for "Soviet Union" (ソビエト連邦, Sobieto Renpō).
- ↑ Another version of this image (featuring a slightly different shade of red for the uniforms) was uploaded at an earlier date, but Himaruya forgot to draw the lapels of the blazer, as mentioned in the sourced post.
