Aerican Empire (アエリカ帝国さん, Aerika) is a supporting character in the series Hetalia.

Appearance[]

Aerican Empire is depicted as a teenager in a black and red cloak with a military medal attached on his left. Underneath his cloak is a dark shirt with gold buttons and accents of red. He has dark brown boots and black gloves. He has fluffy brown-red hair with an highlights of bright red. He has a single curly hair sticking up, resembling Canada's. His eyes fade from red at the top to orange beneath and are covered by rectangle glasses.

Personality and Interests[]

Aerica appears to have two outward personalities (one confident and one not) that he displays depending on whether or not he is wearing his dramatic costume. When costumed, he is loud and takes more risks. He seems to enjoy making a dramatic and impactful entrance. When wearing plain clothes such as a hoodie, he appears much more quiet and less bold.

He seems to value "the power of imagination" at least as much as he does reality and believes that due to it everyone has a claim to an unconquerable land inside themselves. Despite his initial entrance being like that of a supervillain his only appearances in the series so far have been friendly (boosting Hutt River's self-confidence and helping Molossia with cleaning up after the convention).

Because his national policy is to love sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming it can probably be assumed that he enjoys those things.

Relationships[]

  • Molossia: Molossia and the Aerican Empire interact at micro-cons. Aerican even calls their relationship as 'microcon buddies'. Aerica is noted to be one of the few that have seen Molossia's softer side.
  • Hutt River: When Hutt River tells the other micronations that he's going to quit being a nation, Aerica makes a dramatic entrance and tells him, quote 'We all have a territory in us that's eternally inviolable, don't we?' and some other stuff about the power of imagination, giving Hutt River a big confidence boost, possibly even saving him for disappearing.
  • Canada: Aerican appears to hold great respect for Canada as he refers to Canada as Mr. or Master Canada and offers him free souvenirs from his online shop while making sure to be as respectful toward Canada as possible. When he had been invited to Canada's house for a get together, he is extremely flatter but slightly embarrassed to know Canada reads his website.

Trivia[]

  • Aerican Empire's headquarters is in Montreal, Canada.
  • Aerican has a planet that flies around him, and it has been seen destroying a UFO abducting cows.
  • Aerica does not exercise regularly.
  • He is supposedly engaged in space battles against an unspecified opponent.
  • His motto is, "The world is ridiculous; let's keep it that way." and his anthem is titled "Home is where I hang my towel".
  • His flag somewhat resembles the Canadian flag, but instead of a maple leaf in the center the Aerican Empire flag depicts a smiley face.
  • Himaruya often seems to write him using speech that is very old-fashioned and in modern times is associated with geek culture, such as referring to Molossia with the honorific "dono" (殿) or himself with an outdated form of "I" (我).
  • In a conversation with Canada, Aerican reveals he is a fan of Starry Wars and insisted on a binge marathon of all episodes with the assurance he can explain everything to Canada.
  • He is the personification of a micronation founded in May 1987 that has territories in Canada, Australia, several other areas on the Earth, a colony on Mars, the northern hemisphere of Pluto, and the imaginary planet of Verden.

Notes[]

  1. All of the micronations are not adults.
